Deep Brewing
Illustration | Design | Packaging
I had the pleasure of working with the Master of Brewing Ryan LaPete from Deep Brewing. I got to design two of the main cans which are stocked on the shelves of Publix. As well as the cans, I worked on the growlers, merch, and social media graphics for new flavor releases. This was one of my all time favorite projects. Everytime I pass the cans in Publix I can't help but take a picture, however, quite a few of the pics below are pulled from the Deep Brewing Instagram, which you should def check out.
Can Design
Deep was founded by Ryan LaPete, who is a 9-time Aquanaut and former scientific diver. With his background in mind I designed a can with pipes, rivets, and gauges to mimic a high pressure environment. The porthole looks out onto a scene and features an interchangeable illustration. All the info in the gauges is beer accurate.
Illustrations
I wanted the make illustrations that were tense and action packed. Versatility was key, so they could be taken and used in whatever materials they needed. The menacing octopus was an obvious choice, but I took my own spin on it by pairing it with the helmet imagery from the logo.
Social Media
For new flavor releases, I got to make a special post. I used the same illustration style in the posts as the graphics. I drew the type wavy to give the impression of it being under water, as well as the different elements that changed between flavors. Also for their Greatest Hits I drew it into a record sleeve.... Dope.
Merch
I put the existing logo into a lil shield lockup, that really turned out well and was pretty versatile. A small icon for the hats and shirts featuring the can artwork.
In the Wild
Again it's really cool seeing the stuff in the wild. It fills me with a lot of pride to see it out in the wild.
